Past participants in the UM-Will Steger Foundation Environmental Sustainability Seminar
The University of Minnesota’s GO Minnesota unit, the Institute on the Environment, and the Will Steger Foundation are delighted to announce a new and unique summer program for international students interested in sustainability.
Minnesota’s natural beauty, where forest and prairie meet in the land of 10,000 lakes, has inspired ecological research and efforts to create sustainable communities. In this three-week seminar, you’ll discuss sustainability and landscape issues with scholars from the world-renowned Institute on the Environment. You’ll visit the University’s Morris campus, where a biomass gasifier heats and cools campus buildings, and you’ll discuss sustainability with American Indian leaders. You’ll learn about climate change and energy literacy and tour green facilities in the Twin Cities metro with Will Steger Foundation education staff. Students who stay for an optional fourth week will meet Arctic explorer and climate activist Will Steger at his wilderness outpost, the Steger Wilderness Center. June 30–July 19, 2014.
Application Deadline: April 1, 2014
